For this assignment I was asked to select a video from the class video Library, and write a reflection about the video I chose to watch. I was also asked to reflect on why I liked the video and what I learned from the video regarding technology integration. After reflecting I talk about the importance of technology integration and how I would implement it into the classroom. I watched How Differentiated Instruction and Formative Assessment Work at Forest Lake Elementary which was about using technology for assessment to find out where students are academically, so teachers can use differentiated instruction to benefit the needs of all their students. During assessment the educators use palm pilots to record a student’s educational profile. The educators then pull out the files of every child to figure out how the students will be grouped based upon educational needs. The students use technology like smart boards and computers for skills practice. The Program IPAC is spoken of and used for every student, this program is an individualized and personalized learning program where the students can learn in a way comfortable to them. I liked this video because I feel that all children have different learning styles and can’t be taught just one way. I find the use of technology can also help students learn because there are many programs that relate the information to students in a way they can understand it and students typically see technology as a fun way to learn and do school work. I was unaware of the IPAC program but feel it is an excellent idea for students because the program is able to identify individual learning styles for every child and personalize learning to their needs. Ideally, technology in my classroom would include a smart board and many computers. I would have programs on the computers for practice skills in every subject. I think it would be fun to have the students participate in virtual tours in famous museums. I also think it would be fun to teach the students how to make a power point presentation since they are a great visual for compiling research or even to tell the class what they did over the summer.
